We lay in bed,
our fingers snaking their way toward each other,
and I listened to her
tell me stories
of Genesis, the beginning.
"When Adam ate of the fruit," she began.
"He choked as he swallowed,
realizing too late the seriousness
of what he had done;
his sin caught in his throat.
And so, the fruit then changed
and became part of his body.
A hard swell of flesh
rising under the skin,
it remained there for all time after
as a reminder of
man's disobedience."
"And that," she said, kissing my throat.
"Is where Adam's apples come from."
"And Eve?" I asked. "What of the fruit
she stole?"
"Eve," she sighed. "Was made to bear it."
Then she smiled as I spanned my hands
across her stomach.
For we were naked,
and we were not ashamed.

The piece that inspired the now ongoing "Projekt Genesis" (Read here: [link] or here [link] .) In short, it is "a group collaboration open to the community that wishes to breathe new life into the story that started it all, Adam and Eve." Would love to see you participate if you aren't already! 
Anyhow, this paints pictures in my head: A cute little married couple, laying in bed late in the morning, just talking, possibly pregnant, or just being lustful.
I want you all to see it in your own way; this is just how I see it. I like to tell myself stories, especially lately of how things began, so this is just a product of that.
Just "Working Title" for now, cus I never did title this piece. Owned by Misty Dunlap, November 17, 2007 (though I wrote it in like September or October), a piece participating in the collaboration project of "Genesis."
